Our approach
Our gardens are intended to be artworks for observation and quiet immersion.
They complement their surroundings and use as many existing features as possible to ground them. They are often created by layering shrubs with perennials underneath a textured canopy. Winding lines, hidden views, dappled shade. Backlit foliage and dynamic structure. Hard landscaping is minimal. Plants are the focus.
Midori Gardens offers garden design and smaller scale planting design, using precedent images, plant photos and sketches to communicate the feel and aesthetic of the proposal. We also offer aesthetic pruning or advice sessions for a guiding hand in your garden.
About Tom
With over 15 years of experience working in gardens, Tom has developed his hands-on knowledge and honed his intuitive understanding of space making with plants. His approach is down to earth and informal, with a belief that how a garden is meant to feel will be revealed to him.
He has a crucial combination of practical gardening skills and a magic something that allows him to create not only beautiful scenes but also gardens that work for the long term. He has been told that he is able to bring something to life that it wasn’t possible to see before.
Tom is a dreamer and loves being outdoors, learning from nature and animals.
